Our primary work project on each trip to Haiti is the Sponsorship Program. We personally interview, photograph and measure each child who is added to the Sponsorship List. This can be quite a task, as these photos will show!
First, we interview each child, with the help of the Haitian staff of the school. We gather information such as the birthdate of the child, their family situation, their level in the school, etc. These interviews are conducted in 3 languages - first in French, then in Creole and finally in English!
Then each child is photographed. This can often be quite a task as the smaller children are often afraid of us! Also, in their culture it is common for people to look extremely serious when being photographed so getting smiles out of the children presents another challenge!

Finally, each child is measured so their clothing size can be determined. Most of the children are smaller than an American child of the same age so these measurements are very helpful for sponsors who wish to send clothing to their sponsored child.
Aside from the Sponsorship Program, we want to help with any other projects the church or the school need help with. We have helped with construction projects,

teaching and doing experiments using solar "technology",

and we have done arts and crafts projects with the children of the church.
We have even recorded some of the church's 18 different singing groups for a CD we hope to be able to produce sometime in the future. Their singing is some of the most awesome singing we have ever heard!

But our main goal on any trip is to support and encourage the believers of L'Eglise Baptiste, coming alongside to assist them in the work they're already doing, as well as building relationships of love with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
"And Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought against Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy.
Then they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set." Exodus 17:10-12
